Technology Classrooms
The College currently has 26 technology classrooms which have
equipment permanently installed to facilitate your use of
technology. Help with getting started in these rooms and
the key to the computer desk are available from WITRC.
The current Tech Classrooms are: Winther 1001, 1002, 1013, 1014, 2001, 2005,
2008, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 3002, 3006, 3010, 3011, 3012,
3013, Roseman 1040, Health Center 0005, Williams Center 144, 183A, 183C, 184, and 185, and the dance studio.

Each technology classroom contains:
- Ceiling-mounted LCD projector
- PC or Mac Networked Computer
- VCR & Sound System
- The ability to connect a laptop
- Some have a Digital Overhead Presenter

Instructions For Using Most High Technology Classrooms
|
To use any of the equipment, you need to
first:
|
- Unlock cabinet side doors.
- If there is a power strip, check that it is on.
|
|
Desktop Computer
|
- Turn on by pushing button in the middle of the tower (green light should be visible now).
- Check that monitor is on (green
light should be visible), if not, then push the button
in lower right corner of monitor.
- To project the computer
image, refer to the Projector instructions.

| Laptop Computer |
- Use VGA cable that comes out from under the desk to connect to the back of the laptop.
Note: There may be special
instructions to activate your "monitor out" connection.
- To project the laptop on the screen,
refer to the Projector instructions.

|
Sound
|
- Stereo Receiver must be on (located
under VCR).
- Tape button (on reciever)
must be 'off' for sound from video
or computer.
- For VCR sound, press 'VCR'
button on receiver (labeled in white).
- For sound from desktop computer, select 'PC' button on receiver (labeled in white).
- Adjust volume with volume knob
on the Stereo Reciever.
- If there is still no sound, try pressing the 'Speaker' button until the display
says 'A'.

ELMO Presenter
|
- Turn on ELMO presenter by
using the on/off switch (left side).
- Select the 'internal'
button ('input' menu).
- To project a transparency,
select 'base' light source 'lamp' menu).
- To project an 3-D object, select 'upper'
light source ('lamp' menu).
- To project the image, go to Projector- "ELMO
Presenter" instructions.

VCR/Video
|
- Press 'power' on VCR.
- Press 'power' on Stereo
Receiver.
- Press 'VCR' button
on Stereo Receiver (labeled in white).
- Place video in VCR and press
'play'.
- If you encounter problems with
the sound, refer to the Sound instructions.
- To project the image, refer to
the Projector 'Video' instructions.

Projector
|
- Locate the projector remote and press 'power' on the
remote. Hold the 'power' button for at least 5 seconds, projector will slowly warm up.
- Follow the individual instructions
below for the specific equipment that is being used.

Desktop computer
|
Portable lap top computer
|
- Press 'RGB' or 'Computer 1' on projector remote.
- Check switch box (topleft cabinet) so that selector is on 'A'
pointing towards 'PC'.
- If projector light is on and no image appears, press RGB 1 or 2 times
more.
|
- Press 'RGB' or 'Computer 1' on projector remote.
- Switch box needs to be turned to 'B' ('EXT PC').
- Follow lap top directions on previous page.
- If projector light is on and no image appears, press RGB 1 or 2 times
more.

|
Elmo Presenter
|
Video
|
- Press 'Video' button on projector remote.
- VCR must be off to use the ELMO.
- Follow ELMO Presenter instructions.
|
- Press 'Video' on the projector remote.
- ELMO must be off to use VCR.
- Refer to Video instructions 3 through 8.
|
|
Power Off
|
|
All technology used in the classroom MUST be turned off or shut down.
Improper shutdown WILL damage the equipment and/or affect the next instructor.
|
- Power down the Projector using the remote.
- Check that all equipment
is off.
- Replace remotes, lock all cabinets and close keyboard
drawer.

|
|
