Faculty Resources
The Technology Coordinator for the College, Stanley Smoniewski,
will assist you with your computing needs. This assistance
can vary from a simple consultation to co-teaching a class
session with you. Most services listed below should
be reserved in advance. Additional resources may
be available through your department, or University Computing.

- Computer Labs:
Winther 1006 contains two computing labs
- Hours are M-TR: 9-7; F: 9-4; Closed Weekends. Hours vary during the summer.
- Hansel has 14 PCs, 6 Macs, and a projector.
- Gretel has
13 PCs, 9 Macs, and a projector.
- Labs may be reserved for your class use. Call
or stop in to reserve.
- Only one lab may be reserved at a time, if you
have classes larger than one lab,
we suggest you break your class into two meetings.
- These labs are open access when not in use by classes,
and staffed by a student lab monitor who assists
users.
- Production: Resources such as scanners, digital still cameras, digital video cameras, DVD recorders and web page development are available for your use through WITRC and the Learning Technology Center on campus.
- WITRC
Software Library contains
over 250 titles, and is available for preview to you
and your students. Titles are available in most subject
areas.
- Wireless Internet Access can be accessed through many hotspots around campus, including the WITRC Computer Labs. If you have trouble setting up your wireless connection come to WITRC or call the help desk for assistance.
- Technology Classrooms
are rooms which have equipment permanently installed to facilitate
your use of technology.
Twenty-five rooms (Winther 1001, 1002, 1013, 1014, 2001, 2005,
2008, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 3002, 3006, 3010, 3011,
3012, 3013, Health Center 0005, Roseman
1040, the 5 Williams Center classrooms and the dance studio) have ceiling
mounted LCD projectors, at least one networked computer,
and a VCR. Some also have a digital overhead presenter.
Help in getting started in these rooms and the
key to unlocked computer desks are available through
WITRC. A laptop that you or a presenter brings in can
easily be connected to the projection systems.
- Portable Equipment: Available
for loan to Faculty
- Lightweight LCD Projectors An LCD projector
in a carrying
case is available for speaking engagements and conferences.
Advance reservations are encouraged.
- Laptop Computers A
limited number of Macintosh and Windows laptop computers
are available
for faculty. They can be kept for up to several days (if
available). Off campus and extended loans (i.e. for
a conference)
will be granted based on availability. Reservations are encouraged.
- Digital
Still Cameras They are available for use on and off campus.They vary from wide angle to telephoto and store hundreds of images.
- Digital
Video Cameras There are two Digital 8 (8mm videotapes) and four Panasonic (mini DV tapes) cameras available. They record in
an all digital format. Through
the camera's connectors, video and audio can be
transferred to a computer for editing without any loss of quality.
- SMART Board Kit This kit is needed in order to use the SMART Board in Winther 3004 and 3006. The SMART Board is an interactive whiteboard that can be used for conferences and presentations.
