Places from my former lives:

Originally, I am from St. Paul, Minnesota. My undergrad education was at Grinnell College where I double majored in Physics and French. I then moved to Montana State University in beautiful Bozeman, MT where I received a M.S. degree in Physics for my External Cavity Diode Laser research with Dr. John Carlsten. My Ph.D. work involved Auditory Graphs at Oregon State University and my advisor was Dr. John Gardner. After defending my thesis, I spent an additional year as a post-doc for the SAP research group.

During the 2000-2001 academic year, I taught at Lewis & Clark College as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Physics.

Other information:

My non-computer hobbies include juggling, rough terrain unicycling, rope walking, the SCA (where I am known as Master Xavier de Saone), Tai Chi, and most recently, learning to fiddle.

Martha Donnelly and I were married at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY. Martha is a free-lance commercial illustrator, some of her works can be seen in Showcase (20th and 21st editions, but not on their web site.)

We have three children: Leif, Cedar, and Gwynne.

My parents are Irene and Mel
