lecture; late assignments will not be accepted. The homework must be neatly
presented and prepared on 81/2’’x 11’’
paper; the pages must be stapled. You must show all the steps that lead to the
final result. The homework you turn in should be the product of your own
effort. Should you have difficulties with the homework, please see me.
Grading Policy
Your grade in this course will be based on
1. Class
participation (including attendance): 30 points (or 5% of your total
grade). Up to three absences are
allowed for the whole semester. Students who miss class more than three times
will loose two (02) points for each absence thereafter.
2. Homework
assignments are due on Tuesdays at the beginning (not at the end) of lecture.
Late homework will not be accepted. Each HW assignment is worth twelve points
and we will have approximately 10 assignments. They will count for 120 points
(or 20% of your total grade).
3. Four (04)
exams will be given during this semester but only the three highest will be
counted. Each exam is worth 100 points (or 1/6 of your total grade). The three
highest exams will then be worth 300 points (or 50% of your total grade). The
dates will be announced two weeks in advance.
4. A final
exam worth 150 points (or 25% of your total grade).
Grading Scale:
A 88%—100%
B 75%—87%
C 61%—74%
D 50%—60%
F <50%
Course Policies:
Avoid missing a scheduled examination. Excuses from an exam must be
obtained in advance of the exam. Acceptable excuses will be rare and
granted only for those with verifiable and compelling medical reasons. Class
attendance is required. Unexcused
absences will result in a reduction of your grade. All electronic devices (e.g., cellular phones,
pagers, personal stereos, etc.) must be turned off while in class.
The Final
exam will be in this room Tuesday, May 9, 2006. Time: 3:15 – 5:15 pm.
Please
note: “No student shall be required to take more than two comprehensive final
examinations on the same day”.
