Upham Hall Renovation Project
Construction on an extensive $28M expansion and renovation of Upham Hall has begun in Fall 2002 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2005.
The physics department will retain spaces on both the basement and first floors, but the configuration of the space will be quite different. Teaching spaces will be consolidated, faculty research spaces will be created, a dedicated SPS room will be built, and adjacent department and chair offices will be constructed. The advanced labs will be smaller but will be adjacent to each other and will enjoy better storage areas. The modern physics lab will have a high vacuum station.
