Technology Help Desks are fairly well established for on campus users,
but are more recent for off campus service. You should explore these
help pages immediately to see what kind of help is available to you
when you really need it. Much of it is the self-help variety with utioityies
for downloading appropriate software. Some sites have technology tutorials
in addition to the the emergency kind of assistance. The most mature
and best funded site is, of course, Madison's. Although you may not
be able to take advantage of all of those DoIT services restricted to
Madison students, unless you are a Madison student, there is much at
this site that will be useful to you.
General Technology Help
When you are using campus
library resources as an off campus student, and that describes all students
in this program, it is essential to read the pages they develop to guide
off campus users. Thes will tell you how to interact with the proxy
servers. It is very important to print their directions before doing
anything to change your proxy server. If you have problems that are
persistent, contact the person listed in contact inforation on the UWSSLEC
Library Page.
