The University of
Wisconsin System - School Library Education Consortium is a collaborative
program that combines the strengths of faculty in library media programs
at:
- Whitewater
- Madison
- Eau Claire
- Superior and
- Oshkosh
In 1997, faculty at Whitewater
and Eau Claire banded together to make access to preparation programs
for licensure in library media and technology available to teachers
who are beyond the normal commuting range of campuses. They were joined
in the effort a year later by Madison, Superior and Oshkosh and supported
by the University of Wisconsin System and Project Vital to form a System
wide Consortium (UWSSLEC). The goal of the UWSSLEC program is to enable
teachers who want to expand their ability to use information and technology,
and to attain licensure as a library media specialist.
The goal of the UWSSLEC program
is to provide access to licensure in libary media and technology and,
at the same time, link with campus degree programs to enhance options
and flexibility.
