91 License

Any library media specialist that supervises other professionals is required to have a 91 license.  This license is also useful to those working as library media directors, even if they have no direct supervisory responsibilities. It deals with managing a library media program at the district level.

Existing Licenses (continuing until 2004)

91 Instructional Library Media Supervisor

This is based on a master's degree, four additional graduate courses taken for an administrative license, and experience as a library media specialist.

Proposed Licenses (starting 2004)

91 Instructional Library Media Supervisor

This will continue to be based on a master's degree, four additional graduate courses for the administrators license, and experience as a library media specialist.

A draft of the competencies for the 91 license can be found at the DPI web site.
