This license will be changing
in the next several years. Currently the 903 license is offered by several
institutions around the state. Schools are not required to have anyone
with this license, but many av coordinators have earned it in the past.
It will disappear in 2004 and be replaced by an administrative level
93 license for technology coordinators. That license is a combination
of the competencies sought in 903 and administrative competencies addressed
in the four basic courses for district administrators.
903 Instructional Technology
Specialist
This is based on a Master's
degree or equivalent. It will be discontinued in 2004.
93 Instructional Technology
Coordinator
This will be based on a
master's degree in an administrator-level preparation program emphasizing
technology. The 903
license will be discontinued. Its competencies will be addressed in
the 93 license.
A draft
of the competencies for the 93 license can be found at the DPI
web site.
Coursework for the 93 License
We will not develop coursework
specifically for the 903 license, but will move directly to the 93
license. These courses are under development and will start
to become available in 2002-2003.
