Becoming a school library media specialist in Wisconsin has been a two stage process for about 20 years, and continues as a multi-stage process. The intent is that those repsonsible for school library programs have a master's degree in library and information studies, or the equivalent.

902 Professional Instructional Library Media Specialist

This second stage of the license build on the knowledge, skills, dispositions, and professional experiences acquired during three years of practice with the first stage of the 902 license.

The Master License builds on the 902 and is attained through an extensive evaluation process.
