PROJECT NAME: Latino Family Night
SUMMARY OF PROJECT:
In order to improve the connection between the Watertown School District and the Hispanic families, we organized Latino Family Night in November 2006. Our goal was to bring the Hispanic population to the school for an informational session in Spanish followed by a social gathering with families and staff. There were three parts to the evening: a power point presentation about the district, time to browse 10 tables with specific information hosted by a translator, and snacks with a drawing for prizes.
We will share our process in organizing this event from the earliest stages to completion. We’ll explain the specific details of the evening, as well as the successes, and the changes we’d make in a future event of this nature.
