Mission One - Investigation at Lexington

Investigate the Battle at Lexington to determine who fired the first shot

Your mission is as follows:

1. Using your resources, find Lexington and go there quickly!

2. Once in Lexington get some background information on the battle.

3. Interview the participants to determine who fired first.

4. We expect a well-written report when you are done.

*A. Provide us with a short background on the incident at Lexington (description of the scene and major events)

*B. Provide an in depth analysis of the information from the people you interviewed to determine who fired first.

*C. Design a cover for the report with an appropriate title and illustration.

You may want to look at how we will be evaluating your investigation before you start on your trip.

Report from the Battle of Saratoga

Your Mission is as follows:

1. Using your resources, find Saratoga and go there quickly!

2. Once at the Battle of Saratoga give an in depth report on what you see, including:

*A. Description of setting - date, weather, commanding officers and numbers of troops involved.

*B. How did battle start, summary of military action, who won?

*C. Significance of battle for the Revolution.

*D. A map of the battlefield.

*E. A cover with an appropriate title and illustration.

3. Before you go, you may want to see how we will evaluation your report.

Mission Three - Letter From Yorktown

Letter from the Yorktown battlefield

Your mission is as follows:

1. You are needed as a soldier at Yorktown. Using your resources, find Yorktown and go there quickly!

2. Your uncle, William Burnet, a member of the Continental Congress, has requested you write him a personal account of what the war means to America. He requires you to:

*A. Write some background information on conditions and events of this battle.

*B. Write about your feelings on this battle in particular - and why you feel that way

*C. Write why you feel the colonies are justified in fighting this war for independence.

*D. Include a map of the battlefield.

*E. Draw a picture of what you are seeing on the battlefield.

3. Before you go, you may want to see how your uncle will evaluate your letter.
