The Haiku

A haiku is a traditional style of Japanese poetry. Haikus are very short poems written about nature, specifically the seasons. These poems should capture a certain place and time and should create a picture in the reader's mind. Most haikus follow a format, like this:

First line: 5 syllables
Second line: 7 syllables
Third line: 5 syllables
