On
the evening of December 16, 1773, three companies
of 50 men each, dressed as Mohawk Indians, passed
through a tremendous crowd of spectators and
boarded the ships of the East India Company
docked at Boston Harbor. They broke open the tea
chests and heaved them into the harbor. As the
electrifying news of the "Boston Tea
Party" spread, other seaports followed the
example and staged similar acts of resistance of
their own.
What
would lead to such an uprising? As a reporter for
the Boston Times newspaper, it is your job to
answer that question and, along with your
partner, write a column for the editorial page.
Your first step will be to research the events
that led up to the Boston Tea Party. Then, you
will need to interview people who were involved
and/or affected by the event.
