(Click on the underlined words to learn more.)

You have just arrived at your first geographic destination, The Great Barrier Reef. You have been dropped off by the helicopter on a very small island. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest structure on Earth built entirely by animals. The Great Barrier Reef is actually made up of about 2,800 smaller reefs.
This natural wonder is larger than Ireland and Britain combined. It contains thousands of islands, most of which contain rainforests. Like the rainforests of Australia, the reefs have drastically declined due to human action.
The reef supports a wide range of marine life. You decide to go scuba diving to see for yourself. The water is warm and crystal clear. The climate is warm and you are loving it! You've never seen so many amazing fish and sea creatures in your life!
