Introduction

You are a young concerned citizen from any time period ( The Revolution, The 1970's, The Depression, even today...). You are dissatisfied with the newspaper coverage in your area. To remedy the situation you decide to publish a newspaper of your own. Yet one problem stands in your way—you have never written a paper before.


Task

Your task is to publish a newspaper containing five specific areas. These areas are: feature article, editorials, letter to the editor, obituaries, and advertisements/comics. You must first research these five areas in order to become an expert in each field. This will give you the knowledge to create the best paper for your time. Below, you will find links that will assist you in designing your newspaper.

Click on the links below to see the grading rubric for each article as well as, the overall grade for the presentation of your newspaper. Each section is worth 15 points and the presentation grade is worth 25 points. This brings the total points possible for this project to 100 points.

Conclusion

You did it! You are now an expert in the art of writing newspaper articles. Once you are done, bind your articles together, and give your newspaper a title. The final step is to give a five to ten minute presentation to the class. This is your chance to show others what a successful newspaper should look like. Be proud of the work you have done!
