This webquest has been designed to provide information about alcohol and other drugs. You will explore five main drugs that may effect you in some way throughout your life. It is important that you are knowledgeable about these drugs to help you remain drug-free throughout your adolescent and adult years.
Groups will explore the assigned drug on the links provided. Once they have looked through the sites they will answer a Guide Worksheet. The groups will then create a poster demonstrating what they have learned about their assigned drug. The group will then be responsible for presenting their poster and information to the class.
Step 1: Each student will be assigned to a group that will research one of the drugs including: alcohol, ecstasy, marijuana, tobacco, or inhalants.
Step 2: Through exploring the provided links the groups will be responsible for completing the Group Guide Worksheet. Each student will be responsible for handing in their own sheet on the day they present their posters!
Step 3: Each group will design one poster to present to the class. Your poster will provide the following information about your assigned drug:
a) all the elements on the Group Guide Worksheet
b) a picture or drawing of your assigned drug
c) any other interesting facts that your group discovered.
Step 4: The construction of your poster should follow these guidelines:
a) poster board should be used
b) marker or colored pencils should be used
c) be creative- use lots of color and different ideas. You may use a variety of materials on your posterboard.
Step 5: Each group will be responsible for presenting their posters to the class. Each group member must present atleast one portion of the poster. The students should explain what they learned and also make reference to the posters they've created. It is important that the group thoroughly presents their topic! You are the teacher for this portion!
Step 6: Also, the audience should be taking notes while the groups are presenting. Please be respectful to those presenting their projects.
1. Each students is responsible for accurately completing the Group Guide Worksheet for their assigned drug. (25 points)
2. Design a poster that includes all the information from their Worksheets (total 30 points)
3. Presentations of posters. Each group member must present atleast one portion of the poster. 1 point for each portions of the Group Guide Worksheet. (total 5 points)
