What is Undergraduate Research?
- It is an opportunity for undergraduate students to develop skills & creativity.
What types of projects are involved?
- For communication majors, ideas that address the process or result of communication, interpersonally, organizationally, or through mass media are good examples.
- Studies that address groups of individuals and their communication are good examples as well as forms of media
- Qualitative and quantitative research is acceptable
What is involved?
- Faculty sponsorship.
- Student creative project.
- Submission of project abstracts.
Who is eligible?
- Full-time students with at least a 2.75 GPA.
- Students must be at least a sophomore.
What steps are needed to get involved?
- Submit a proposal to Undergraduate Research Program (URP).
- If the student is selected, he/she must complete the project.
- Students make a presentation on their project at Undergraduate Research Day or UW-System Research Day.
- Students then submit an application to the National Conference for Undergraduate Research (NCUR).
What deadlines are involved?
- October, 2007 (details to be announced on website).
- NCUR abstract deadline December 1, 2007.
- Summer to Fall 08 project- May, 2008
