Close-Knit Relationships between Professors and Students

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Students in Lab

Dear Prospective Student,

Determining where you will go to college and what major to pursue are really big decisions!  Many students struggle when trying to figure out what will be most beneficial and rewarding to them.  You are not alone if you are feeling a little confused right now!

We happen to feel that UW-Whitewater is a super place, with great facilities and wonderful instructors who will take their time to guide you on a path that fits your abilities and personal attributes.

The Communication Department has much to offer, so check us out!  Please take some time to explore our website.  Take special note of the Degree section which lists all of our majors/emphases in such areas as Broadcast/Print/Web Journalism and Advertising, Public Relations, Corporate/Health Communication, Electronic Media and Media Arts and Game Development (Communication emphasis).  We also offer internships, independent studies, short-term travel study courses, and many other opportunities for you to connect what you do in the classroom to the world outside, making you more “marketable” and able to secure a good job when you do graduate!

After exploring the Communication Department website, you may have questions about visiting, how to apply, tuition, and other items regarding UW-Whitewater.  You may want to check out the admissions website to find out more.

We wish you the best on your college journey!  If we can help in any way, please contact us.  For any additional information on the Department, you can contact me, Dr. Kim Hixson, the Communication Department Chair (hixsont@uww.edu) or call our Academic Department Associate, Julie Ridgeman, at 262-472-1034.
