"In today’s world, intercultural communication competence is a necessity. Successful interactions allow us to recognize our own assumptions about appropriate and meaningful communication, while effectively communicating with others whose assumptions and styles of communication may not mirror our own. Moreover, in order to be effective communicators, we must be able to apply the skills and theories of communication that we have learned to real-life situations."
