"In a major that is heavily based on labs and projects, I encourage a short period at the beginning of the classes where we talk and introduce the class requirements. As I proceed with teachings through the semester, the lecture information gets less, while the project details and independent labor increases. I make myself available to students throughout the semester, but they soon find they are able to work well independently if they are able to accept the initial learning process."
