Research:
Professor Laurent's research interests have been in Great Lakes transportation history, the modern economies of Eastern Europe and Russia, and in college teaching issues. He has articles in Explorations in Economic History
, Journal of Transport History, International Journal of Maritime History, and International Journal of Technology Management. He has chapters in International Trade and Finance: A North American Perspective (1988) and in Management Education and Training: Understanding Eastern European Perspectives (1994). He was the editor of The Larger Responsibilities of Distinguished Teaching (1983). His book reviews are in the Journal of Economic History, Comparative Economic Studies and online with EH.NET, a service of the Economic History Association, among others.
Dr. Laurent's research is about the economic organization of Great Lakes transportation in the pre-World War I years.
