Welcome to the
Fiscal and Economic Research Center

Thanks to a grant from the University of Wisconsin-Extension in 2003, the Department of Economics officially established the Fiscal and Economic Research Center (FERC). The goal of FERC is to provide applied economic research expertise to communities in southeastern Wisconsin. In recent years, faculty members have conducted applied research in a number of areas: economic impact analysis, environmental/natural resource management, community surveys, evaluation of IT clustering and economic development, evaluation of tax policy and other government policies on economic activity. Click on “Research Reports” to access a sample of several recent applied research reports recently completed by UW-Whitewater economics professors.

Beginning in 2005, FERC formally joined forces with UW-Extension to better meet the outreach missions of the respective organizations. UW-Whitewater's FERC is your window of access not only to the faculty at UW-Whitewater but also to the broad range of services provided by UW-Extension's Center of Local Government and Center for Community Economic Development.

Whether you are a public official or business person, the time and expertise at your disposal may be limited. Perhaps we can help you obtain the information and objective analyses that you need to make more informed decisions. If so, we would appreciate the opportunity of talk with you.
