Field Experiences

The Art Department provides numerous opportunities for students experience the art world outside of the classroom, including field trips, workshops, visiting artists and internships.

Field Trips

Throughout the school year field trips may be offered to various regional art centers including:
  • Chicago - Art Institute, Museum of Contemporary Art, Field Museum, Oriental Institute
  • Madison - Elvehjem Museum of Art and Kohler Art Library, Madison Art Center, Silver Buckle Press, Tandem Press
  • Beloit - Logan Museum of Anthropology and Wright Museum of Art
  • New York City - Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Cloisters, Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum, gallery visits

Workshops

Throughout the school year workshops are offered which are open to students and the general public. These may include metal pours in the foundry, figure drawing sessions, workshops offered by visiting artists and others. Students should check the News page of the web site for upcoming workshops.

Throughout the year the department invites visiting artists to present lectures and workshops which are open to students and the general public. Students should check the News page of the web site for upcoming visiting artists.

Internships

Many opportunities exist for students to participate in internships with artist and in graphic design firms. Students interested in internships should contact their instructors.
