Registration

How do I register for studio art courses?
  • The Art Department requires pre-registration for all studio art courses offered during the Fall and Spring semesters. You do NOT need to pre-register for art history courses, or for studio courses offered during Winterim or Summer School. At pre-registration, preference is given to art majors and minors. Students who are not art majors or minors may take studio art classes if seats are still available after pre-registration.

Advising

Who is my advisor?
  • Each art major is assigned an advisor. You can find out who your advisor is through WINS, or you can check the advising lists posted on the bulletin board across the hall from the department office.
Do I need to see my advisor every semester?
  • It is a good idea to touch base with your advisor each semester, to insure that your college career is progressing properly. You are not required to see your advisor each semester. If you attend the pre-registration convocation, you can choose to "self-advise" by filling out a self-advising slip in the department office.
How do I schedule an appointment with my advisor?
  • During the two week window between convocation and pre-registration, advisors will post sign-up sheets for appointments. At other times, contact your advisor directly to set up an appointment.

Other Questions

Why are there course fees for art studio courses when I already pay tuition?
  • Additional costs are inherent in certain majors, and art is no exception. The Art Department is able to obtain materials and tools for student use at considerable discounts. The department passes these savings on to students, as supplies are resold to students at cost.
