Practicums in Performance


A student performing in a mainstage production or theatre tour will be required to participate in shop work during the semester of the performance. The number of hours required should be reviewed annually after the Dance Concert by a departmental committee and established for the following year based upon the production schedule.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS FOR:


Actors        15 hours
Dancers     15 hours

QUALITY REQUIREMENTS (Student’s acting or dance performance):


A=Excellent: Executed assigned tasks with exceptional diligence and with
efficiency commensurate with level of ability and experience.
B=Good: Executed assigned tasks with diligence and with efficiency
commensurate with level of ability and experience.
C=Fair: Occasionally lacked diligence in execution of assigned tasks or
occasionally lacked efficiency commensurate with level of ability
and experience.
D=Poor: Often lacked diligence in execution of assigned tasks or often
lacked efficiency commensurate with level of ability an
experience.
F=Failure: Execution or efficiency were not at a level commensurate with
ability and experience.

NOTE: Students who fail to complete their required hours will not be awarded an “A” in practicum

The director may consult with the costumer or technical director regarding the quality of the shop work before assigning performance grades.

All other policies approved August 31, 1983 and Amended September 5, 1984 will remain in effect.
